| Name: | Roger Davis |

(This is strictly a roleplaying journal! I am not in any way related to the musical, actors, etc!)
Hi. My name is Roger Davis. You may know me as the former lead singer of the band the Well Hungarians. The band broke up, but I still play guitar and write songs.
Character Demographics:
Fandom: RENT
Name: Roger Davis
Age: mid-twenties
Physical Appearance: long-ish blonde hair, brown eyes, 5'10"
Education: Went to high school in Scarsdale, graduated, and decided to move to New York to try and start a rock band.
Occupation: songwriter/guitarist - is currently looking for a band to start playing with again.
Significant Other: Mimi Marquez, the love of his life.
Mark Cohen, his best friend, but Roger is starting to have feelings for him that go beyond friendship.
Sexual Preference: Roger's had girlfriends, both in high school and in New York, but now he's starting to have feelings for his best friend, Mark.
Character Biography:
History: Roger grew up in Scarsdale, graduating from high school before deciding to move to New York. He wanted to start a rock band in New York, so he joined a band called the Well Hungarians. Roger and his best friends Mark and Tom Collins, Mark's girlfriend Maureen, and their friend Benny Coffin shared an apartment. Roger and his girlfriend April started getting into drugs, becoming addicted to heroin. They contracted HIV from sharing dirty drug needles, but soon after they found out they were HIV positive, April committed suicide. Roger was devastated, vowing never to fall in love again, until he met Mimi Marquez, the beautiful exotic dancer who lives in the downstairs loft.
Personality in seven words or less: moody, caring, loving, passionate, charismatic, sarcastic.
How Others Perceive Your Character: His friends all know of Roger's struggle to overcome his heroin addiction, and are proud of his ability to withstand the heroin withdrawal and quit. They love his music and guitar playing, though are slightly tired of hearing Musetta's Waltz. Everyone, especially Mark, love to tease Roger about his ability to only play Musetta's Waltz on his guitar, but know that he is a talented songwriter and guitarist.
Beliefs, Convictions, Morals: After April's death and the shocking news that he is HIV positive, Roger believes that God has abandoned him. Despite being forced to go to church back in Scarsdale, Roger believes God wouldn't force one single person to suffer this much, losing the person he loves and finding out that he's slowly dying.
Reason(s) for Escaping to Canada: After Mimi's near-death experience, Roger couldn't take the harsh reality that sooner or later, the love of his life is going to die...again. He packed up his stuff, this time taking the car he and Mark bought, and drove until he ended up in a strange new place called Aternaville, Canada.
Their DHAs [Dreams, Hopes, and Aspirations] for Canada: He hopes to escape from reality for a while, despite knowing that eventually, his friends will find him. Roger wants to continue writing songs and maybe even start another band.
Twenty-Questions for the Characters:
1. What turns them on: candles, dancing, a certain dancer...(grins), rock and roll.
2. What turns them off: drugs...that's definitely the main one.
3. Would they see a shrink: Yeah, I guess. I've been told a lot -usually by Mark- that I need to see a shrink. Especially after April died...but I think I'm okay now.
4. Worst Childhood experience: The time that mine and Mark's mothers decided to dress up as the Wicked Witches from The Wizard of Oz...scariest thing I've ever seen, and we were only 6.
5. Favorite Film: (blushes) The Wizard of Oz...Angel rented it once, and by the end, all of us were singing along.
6. Favorite Song: "All I Ask of You" from Phantom of the Opera. It's mine and Mimi's song.
7. Favorite Word: Uh...I don't really have a favorite word...I guess love, I try to say it to Mimi whenever I get the chance.
8. Least Favorite Word: Dying...I hate that word, and I hear it every time I go to the doctor...which is why I don't go that often.
9. Favorite Curse Word: Um...I dunno, according to my friends, I use every curse word out there...fuck. I definitely use that one a lot. Just ask my friends! (innocent grin)
10. Best gift ever received: It's a tie between Christmas I was 8, and my parents bought me my first guitar, or Christmas of last year, when I met Mimi (smiles).
11. Sound or Noise they hate: An untuned guitar. Most annoying damn noise you'll ever hear. It's so fucking painful to have to listen to someone try and play an untuned guitar.
12. Sound or Noise they love: Mimi singing in the shower, hearing any of my friends sing, really. The whirring of Mark's camera when he's filming. My guitar.
13. Do they know the answer to 64 million dollar question: Uh...yes?
14. [Complete the sentence] ... All the world's a stage... uh...I know this...And the men and women merely players. I heard Maureen say the phrase once.
15. Did Yoko Ono really break up the Fab Four: I think she had a part in it, but she's not the main reason they broke up.
16. Chuck Norris or Bruce Lee: Bruce Lee...I grew up watching his movies and wishing I could do karate like him...my mom would never let me, though.
17. Half full or half empty: Right now, I'd have to say half-full, but if you'd asked me that a couple of years ago, I'd probably have said half-empty, especially right after I found out I was HIV positive.
18. Coke or Pepsi: I've always liked Coke better...I dunno why, and that's when we actually get soda.
19. If they were a Jellybean flavor, which one: Cinnamon. It's always been my favorite, and as a kid I'd see how many I could eat at once. Once I ate 15 at once, and my mouth felt like it was on fire!
20. And, finally, if Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? "April and Angel are waiting for you." I just hope I'm the first to go.
